The inspiration for this open-air chapel was from a Algonkian birchbark canoe. Stripping away the skin with the skeleton remaining, the idea was to overturn the canoe in its elemental form and consecrate a space underneath.

Constructed out of arching timbers found on-site, the new skin of 6 inch copper strips will be interlaced through the trees and will weather over time.
